Lakewood Outdoor Spots

Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison

Although Dinosaur Ridge is technically in Morrison and not Lakewood, it’s just a short drive up into the foothills and a fantastic experience for the entire family. Take a walk on the trail along Dinosaur Ridge and see perfectly preserved dinosaur fossils. That’s right, REAL dinosaur fossils! You can even schedule a tour with a geologist and hear about the history of the ancient ridge.

Lakewood Heritage Center

According to the official website, “Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park is a 20th-century history park, museum, and festival experience that celebrates our community. It is home to 15 historic buildings, more than 40,000 artifacts, rotating and permanent exhibits, a festival area, and an outdoor amphitheater.” With attractions for children of all ages, it’s easy to spend a day or two exploring the Heritage Center and surrounding attractions.

Forsberg Iron Spring Park

We can’t forget about our fur babies! Forsberg Iron Spring Park is a large green space that offers trails, picnic areas, and a big dog park. This beautiful park also boasts great views of the southern Front Range. Ask any local where they like to take their furbabies, and almost all will mention Forsberg park!

Lakewood Indoor Fun

The Bounce Place at Colorado Mills

The Bounce Place is an indoor playground that offers inflatable bounce obstacle courses, bounce houses, games, group parties, and more for children ages 10 and under. While the little kids are playing in The Bounce Place, the rest of the family can enjoy shopping, dining, and other activities offered at Colorado Mills Mall.

This one is actually a two-for because Colorado Mills is a giant attraction itself. An outlet mall with more than 200 stores and restaurants, all the locals know you can spend an entire day (or two!) at Colorado Mills and the surrounding area.

Belmar Downtown District

Enjoy a night out on the town with the entire family in the heart of Lakewood. Belmar has over 80 businesses, including restaurants, cafes, shopping, a movie theater, art galleries, and more. In the winter season, you can find an outdoor ice rink for the family to spend the afternoon skating and during the warm summer months, the pavilion offers live music!

Lakewood, CO Recreation and Libraries
